Description

This year represents the 15th season that Growing Community Garden has been serving the Kalamazoo community! All area residents are invited to the Earth Day Spring Garden Festival at the site of Sunnyside UMC, 2800 Gull Road. The Festival will be a time to invite volunteers from across Kalamazoo to share in planting, setting up support structures, putting in irrigation lines, mowing, tilling, putting down ground cover, painting, and so many other tasks and challenges. The Festival will also feature a host of tables/booths for groups, individuals, businesses, organizations, or agencies to share interactive projects, information, or games related to the environment, gardening, nutrition or any intersecting topic. A great Luncheon at Noon will close with a brief dedication of the garden.  At 2 pm youth organizations or youth themselves will be invited to consider how the garden can be a helpful resource in pursuing scouting badges or 4-H project requirements, or the simple pleasure of learning more about basic gardening. An option to start a Summer Youth Garden Club will be explored. Clean up will begin around 3:30 pm.
